<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">Today The
Kings’ new music video, “Nowhere to Go But Gone” is officially out in support
of spring break (March 11-April 8).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Watch
the video with the message, “There is no trip like a road trip.”</span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZEebzhCT30"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;"></span></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZEebzhCT30"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="464" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rZEebzhCT30" width="559" youtube-src-id="rZEebzhCT30"></iframe></a></div><p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">Lead singer/bassist
Dave Diamond says, <span style="background: white; color: #1d2228;">“There’s
nothing like the feeling of freedom driving in your old set of wheels with a
couple of your best buds on spring break. Maybe somewhere out there you’ll meet
the one of your dreams that feels exactly like you do, maybe not. But things
always have a happy ending. That’s what spring break is about. Partyitis
all the way.”</span><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">“Nowhere
to Go But Gone” picks up where their recent production, “Always Off the Deep
End” left off with bandmates Diamond, keyboardist Sonny Keyes, drummer Todd
Reynolds, and guitarist Mister Zero in animated settings relevant to the songs’
stories. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">In the
case of “Nowhere to Go But Gone,” the band’s taking an electrifying road trip
throughout North America in a van. We see humorous connection with sites
including the Pacific Coast Highway, Vancouver and even Mount Rushmore but with
the band members instead of Presidents! <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Plus the video features live performances of
the band.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Peter Grecco handles the
creative production of the video animation and editing.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Visit </span><a href="http://grecco.ca/#moves"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">grecco.ca.</span></a><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">Written by
Diamond and Zero, “Nowhere to Go " is, according to Zero, “about a road
trip as a way to take a break from a relationship that is getting stale.” It
appears on the band’s new album, "<b>The Longest Story Ever Told</b>."
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">Rave
and Roll’s</span></b><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;"> Miss Sparker
loves Diamond’s “purposely unique voice. There’s no question that you’re
listening to a Kings track when David revs up his vocal cords. It’s kind of
like being at a monster truck show and turning up the volume to eleven. This is
especially the case on the tracks that really rock out, such as on ‘Nowhere
to Go But Gone.’” <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">"<b>The
Longest Story Ever Told</b>" is The Kings’ 7th studio album with ten
tracks, that feature support from iconic music industry veterans handling the
mixing console, including Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple),
Terry Brown (RUSH). Garth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine) handles the mix
on “Nowhere to Go But Gone.” <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">Originally
known as Whistleking, The Kings formed in Vancouver, British Columbia and
Oakville, Ontario, Canada. In 1980, after signing with Elektra Records, The
Kings released the Bob Ezrin produced, platinum selling album "<b>The
Kings Are Here</b>." The single “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ To
Glide” caught on all over North America, with huge airplay in every major
market. It stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for nearly six months, prompting an
incendiary appearance on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Now certified
gold, “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ To Glide” was recently inducted into the
Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and has received other accolades including
the SOCAN Classic Award. The amazing video for it has over 5,700,000
views. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif;">Now, in
2024, The Kings, with their history of hits, over 2000 North American shows,
and a devoted fan base, remain a hungry band with something to prove. "<b>The
Longest Story Ever Told</b>" reaffirms their status as a rock band with
songwriting depth. Writes Miss Sparker, “None of the lyrics are throwaway–the
songs are well-written, relate to the crazy world-at-large, and draw the
listener in by their relevance. If I’ve roused your interest, read up more on
The Kings at their website, and definitely consider adding their music to your
play list."<o:p></o:p></span></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3236761070925817877.post-80666613958729112612024-02-24T01:26:00.001-05:002024-02-24T01:26:18.902-05:00March 1 Richard Skipper Celebrates “Rock Veterans of the NYC Club Scene!”<p><b><span face="Impact, sans-serif"> </span><span face="Impact, sans-serif">with Rock Troubadour Elliott Murphy, Ernie

veterans through music is something that Brian Tarquin & his Heavy Friends
will do until there are no more wars. Brian’s friends include superhero
musicians that love working with him on a number of albums he’s released from
hard rock to jazz over the past (20) years). “‘</span><b>Beyond The

freedoms. I wanted a true star-studded musician tribute of soaring instrumental
songs. So, I was very fortune to get such iconic players as Jean Luc Ponty,
Eric Johnson, Robben Ford and Steve Morse to help me express our gratitude.”</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">A
heavy and glorious fusion-prog collection, “<b>Beyond the Warrior’s Eyes”</b> is

<p class="MsoNormal">The
album “Beyond The Warrior’s Eyes” was produced, engineered and composed
entirely by Brian Tarquin. Well-connected with star musicians, he is a one-man
army playing all instruments except drums where studio drummer Reggie Pryor
lends his services. The album was recorded in Tarquin’s Jungle Room Studios on
2” analog tape through a vintage
Trident London 24 console and a host of analog outboard gear. Brian transferred
the recording to either Pro Tools or Logic, finishing the recording digitally.
He lastly recorded all final mixes down to an Ampex 440C ¼” 2 track analog
tape. Tape Op Interview on process: <a href="https://tapeop.com/interviews/158/brian-tarquin/"><span style="color: black; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font: major-fareast; mso-themecolor: text1;">https://tapeop.com/interviews/158/brian-tarquin/</span></a></p>

tracks? “Behind the Iron Curtain” with Chris Poland is a thundering and
glorious orchestration of guitar playing. Chris loves working with Brian, <i>“</i></span><span style="color: #222222;">This particular project I felt was a bit more

guitars on a dreamy yet danceable instrumental, “Faith & Hope.”<b><i><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></i></b></span><span style="color: #1d2228;">The
combination of guitar work from multi-genre-rocker Eric Johnson and fusion’s

<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;"><span style="background: white; color: #222222;">The album closes with a song, “These

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Grammy® winning producer (and Johnny Cash’s son) John

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Composed of three virtuoso guitarists, the Grammy®
nominated band is renowned for electrifying performances, blending different

<br />
The band includes former Randy Rhoads student Janet Robin (“Top 50 Acoustic

Lindsey Buckingham, Meredith Brooks, Air Supply….), award winning Austrian
nylon-string guitarist Markus Illko (composer: ORF-Austria TV, Price Waterhouse

The String Revolution’s cover version of “Billie Jean” reached the Top 10
Spotify LA Instrumental Charts and their songs on Spotify have reached over 4
million plays. They have been selling out several Los Angeles notable clubs
such as Hotel Cafe, Boulevard Music, The Mint, and many music festivals as they
continue to tour nationally and soon, internationally. In 2019, the band was
invited to perform at The Grammy</span><span style="color: #040000; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">®</span><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;"> Museum in The Clive

In 2022, they teamed up with longtime Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens to record
a unique acoustic version of the Ozzy Osbourne & Randy Rhoads classic,
“Crazy Train.,” including a special animated video. The result garnered
complimentary press and more excitement over the band, which led to music
industry icon, Miles Copeland and his biz partner John Bevilacqua became their
managers. That got The String Revolution signed with Jerry Ross’s Harmony
Agency and the band has risen to touring to perform in PACs and state fairs. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

are here, We are strong, And we are more than what we probably let on” as a
representative of the disability community. The 39-year-old
singer-songwriter/software engineer, who lives with Spinal Muscular Atrophy,
has released a single with a gorgeous-sounding acoustic and lyrically uplifting
message to the world. The song now out on all streaming media supports the annual December 3 International Day of People
with Disability (IDPWD) on all streaming media. </span></p><p style="background: white;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", serif;">Streaming hub & link to music

<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">There are two new versions of Tabi’s
song “Hello World.” Her version was recorded at the state of the art, James
Dolan Recording Studio at New York University. Other New York City
favorites that recorded there include hitmakers Lady Gaga and A Great Big
World.</span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">One of Tabi’s favorite lyrics is
“dreams are brought to life by diversity.” She writes a lot of
disability advocacy songs, but “Hello World” stands out for many reasons, “Life
is constantly about introducing yourself to new people, and re-introducing
yourself to people you already know in certain ways.” “Hello World” is
Tabi’s wish for people to understand disabled people, “don't judge, but do have
dialog. This song is an opportunity to be more open than ever before about
diversity.”</span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydp8bc036b6msonormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">The “Hello
World” music video, featured on Chase’s YouTube page was recorded at Smash Studios in Midtown.
This shows Tabi leading 6 musicians, who are also JP Morgan Chase employees, in
the studio. Tabi says, “This is a Chase employee group version of the song;
We’d never met, but everyone practiced beforehand, and showed great teamwork as
we created a new version of the song for our company.” Directed by Chase video
editor Seth Gomez, the video’s message shows JP Morgan Chase wants to be the
employer of choice for people with disabilities.”</span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="ydp8bc036b6msonormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">“Hello World” is
also the name of the first Application program that every
software engineer learns. Tabi explains why the name is used, “We learn
new technology all the time to keep up with its rapid evolution.
Therefore, every time we learn something new, it’s ‘Hello
World’!” </span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">Tabi’s a Filipino American, born and
raised in Houston, TX. At age 3, her guitarist/pianist father
introduced her to music. Since then, she sang to keep her lungs
healthy. She moved to New York State area at age 17, and started writing
songs. Tabi moved to New York City when she turned 18, and
attended Pace University. After graduating Summa Cum Laude, Tabi
began work as a coder, later advancing to her job as a software
engineer at JP Morgan Chase. </span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="ydp8bc036b6msonormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">She is a
professional recording artist with two studio albums: 2022’s “<b>Stance</b>,”
2019’s "<b>I Wrote Life</b>," 2023’s “<b>High Notes</b>” dance remix
EP, and a number of singles—notably “Waiting in the Wings,” which Tabi wrote,
recorded and released about disability activist Judy Heumann a few weeks
before she passed away in Feb 2023.</span><b><span style="color: #9900ff; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"> </span></b><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">Tabi is a member of the Recording
Academy. </span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">As a songwriter Tabi </span><span style="color: #1d1d1d; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">uses a mouse and track pad and music software to compose (the
disease is progressive, so while she could write in college, she can no longer
even put on eyeliner), and she sings into a microphone. Once she is happy with
her demo, she presents it to one of the musicians she works with to create the
instrumentation. They collaborate on the structure until the song is ready.</span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; letter-spacing: .3pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">Singing isn’t
Haly’s only way of dealing with </span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",serif; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;">Spinal Muscular Atrophy. <span style="letter-spacing: .3pt;">She sees occupational and physical therapists
regularly. She works through daily range-of-motion exercises and employs home
health aides who help her 24 hours a day. At night she sleeps with a
ventilator. It’s a physical and mental ordeal. But music keeps her going.</span></span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3236761070925817877.post-41572044759513303582023-11-28T02:15:00.002-05:002023-11-28T02:15:26.812-05:00Dec 4 The Indie Collaborative Plays New York City's Green Room 42<p> </p><p align="center" style="background: white; margin: 0in; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #3b3f44; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;"><o:p></o:p></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiODgYuHZ2tsJY903Lif0yjpDRIQNtkImtB-lRFOZF7nE4ZvmyGNCg-gjrwF6z3MFLYnDigAbDAutlozUi5Tlbjv-ACURaAEYqa99IWm7iQ6szcEOcbfaRppY9oiptQwEheO1DWnDAxqx5mLkcUo_a3HhAQ_kQvYobyUDc-c4CjpfOFKAx0eONpiUnIq_E/s1546/indie%20collaborative%20flyer.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1546" data-original-width="1000" height="861" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiODgYuHZ2tsJY903Lif0yjpDRIQNtkImtB-lRFOZF7nE4ZvmyGNCg-gjrwF6z3MFLYnDigAbDAutlozUi5Tlbjv-ACURaAEYqa99IWm7iQ6szcEOcbfaRppY9oiptQwEheO1DWnDAxqx5mLkcUo_a3HhAQ_kQvYobyUDc-c4CjpfOFKAx0eONpiUnIq_E/w557-h861/indie%20collaborative%20flyer.png" width="557" /></a></div><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: #010000; font-family: ArialMT, serif; text-align: left;">The highly diversified and always entertaining, international

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The release of his single was inspired by Jim’s
recent book, "<i>She Walks in Beauty," </i>written with esteemed Rock journalist,
<b><i>Dave Thompson</i></b>. <i>“My last</i> <i>book, ‘Nobody Told Me’, was the
story of the best days of my life, and a musical career that took me from a
holiday camp in the English west country to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland”
</i>Jim explained.<i> “This book, on the other hand, begins on the very worst
day of my life, June 7, 2020— with the death of my wife Elisabeth. Lizzie.”<o:p></o:p></i></span></p>

picks up the theme of his book and reflects on the spiritual connection Jim still
feels with Lizzie, driven by his life-long fascination in the paranormal and
especially <i>“the shadows that are just out of sight and the certainty that
there is an enduring connection between the living and the dead” </i>and reflected
on at length in his book.</span><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

friend Kennet in France (where Jim has lived for many years), as Jim explained:
<i>“It was just acoustic guitar and vocals. I sent it to <b>Hugh Syme</b>, the
designer & musician famous for his </i><b>Rush</b><i> album covers) and after
maybe a year he came back with the arrangement, that consists of nylon string
guitar, violin, Armenian duduk, bamboo flute, synth and strings. Also, a boys
choir arrangement. I’ve no idea which instruments are “real”, but I love
working with Hugh – who also did the arrangement for ‘Changing Times’ on ‘Walking
in the Wild Land.’”<o:p></o:p></i></span></p>

light than many might expect from the man responsible for helping write so many

and choirs; mix in some Cuban magic; add a dose of Philly jazz; tackle issues
of love, loss, and adversity; and you get the latest album from global
activists Sharon Katz & The Peace Train. <o:p></o:p><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 107%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt;">The gorgeously layered tracks were recorded in South
Africa, Mexico and the USA, including an appearance by South African choir,
Thee Legacy, produced by Sibongiseni Shabalala of Ladysmith Black Mambazo fame.
You’ll do a double take when you hear the vocals and think LBM’s lead singer, the
late Joseph Shabalala, has come back to add his voice to “What Can We Do/</span><b><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt;"> </span></b><span style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt;">Sizokwenzenjani.”</span><span style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt;"> <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Sharon and
Joseph started working together in South Africa in 1992 - and Ladysmith Black
Mambazo traveled aboard Sharon’s original journey of The Peace Train in 1993
when Sibongiseni was still a youth - so it truly is a legacy track.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 107%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt;">Those familiar with previous albums may need a tissue
when listening to “Sister of the Soul/Siswami,” <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>a tribute to Nonhlanhla Wanda who co-founded
The Peace Train with Sharon is 1992 and tragically passed away this year. The
Zulu choir, Afrika Mamas, adds its haunting harmonies to summon the ancestors
and honor this beloved Sister. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 107%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt;">“Think It Over” sounds like a pop dance track, and the
intention is to make it popular to support marginalized groups anywhere in the
world. This has been The Peace Train’s mission since its apartheid-busting
origins and continues with its projects around the globe. Sparked by a
situation involving the Trans community, it also addresses diversity, equity,
and inclusion issues worldwide. Drawing on Sharon’s music therapy work with
girls rescued from trafficking, “La Tristeza” champions the resiliency of those
subjected to such atrocities. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 107%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt;"><span style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt;">On a lighter note, the bouncy rhythms of “Baja
California” will make you feel like you’re swaying in sync with the Pacific
Ocean and falling in love while traveling down the Baja peninsula of Mexico.
Then the traditional medley of “Hamba Joba/ Moea Thulamele Hae” will have you
on your feet dancing in true South African style.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

fan base in her message on this album: <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><i>the

have confronted us; and most importantly, the love and support we’ve shared. <o:p></o:p></i></span></p>

<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 14pt;">Joe
Deninzon & Stratospheerius’ “<strong>Behind the Curtain (Live at

to sink to 29. But then the students came back, and liked what they heard

falls under the Jamband music category. With regular releases coming out by
Gov't Mule, Phish, Leftover Salmon, The Wood Brother, et al, it is also a very
competitive chart that bookers, managers, and record labels keep a close
eye on.”</span><o:p></o:p></p>
</div>
<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 14pt;">Part of
the reconnection came about through music people’s awareness of Joe joining
classic prog rock band Kansas this past May, and all the work and promotion Joe
Deninzon & Stratospheerius and his record label Melodic Revolution/Amplified Distribution has done through the years, including playing festivals, and the
group working in education. Joe’s authored the violin instruction book,
“Pluggin’ In” and has taught in schools and music camps all over the
world. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p style="background: white;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 14pt;">The media
is playing a role, too. “<strong>Behind The Curtain (Live at ProgStock)” </strong>received
major support:</span><o:p></o:p></p>

“The band, is outstanding — drummer Jason Gianni, guitarist Michelangelo
Quirinale, and bassist Paul Ranieri are all strong players, and are
collectively a very tight and well-rehearsed unit. And with the way Deninzon
swoops, chops, and coaxes all manner of noises out of his violin, he certainly
lives up to the “Jimi Hendrix of violin” label he’s gotten from the
press.” </span><o:p></o:p></p>
