Anne Leighton To Speak About Her Cats and Musicians She’s Worked with at The First Music and Cats Symposium on Thanksgiving Weekend

Cat Lover/Public Speaker/Poet/Publicist Anne Leighton is grateful for the opportunity to deliver a speech about some of her “Successful Musicians Because of Their “Mewses” online on Thanksgiving Weekend. She will join a range of over 40 music and cat lovers including from the world of Academia to speak at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg in Germany's first ever "Music and Cats" Symposium on Nov. 28 and 29 from 11 till 7 pm Germany time, which is 5 AM till 1 PM ET.

Most of Anne’s cats and classic rock stories focus on Jethro Tull, Renaissance, Grand Funk Railroad, classic rock artists that she publicized. Anne shares how her clients found ways to help cats and other animals through their music.

Anne will be telling her stories on November 29 at 15:15 CET/9:15 AM ET.   

“My research embraces cat folklore and science. In comparing notes about my cats with musicians I work with, they’d speak passionately of the many ways they love cats. Legendary rock band JETHRO TULL has announced "The Seven Decades" tour. Led by Ian Anderson, the concert will feature a rich collection of the best-known JETHRO TULL repertoire from 1968 to date. Fans will recognize the key songs from the band’s rich heritage.  These are songs which put JETHRO TULL and Ian Anderson on the map during these seven decades. "The Seven Decades" tour will hit the U.S. from August through November, with stops in the Midwest (Chicago, Indianapolis, Dayton, Cincinnati, Northern Virginia), in California (San Diego, Los Angeles, Lincoln, Saratoga, Santa Rosa), and the Northeast (New Hampshire, Boston, Uncasville, New York City, Port Chester, Albany).

Progressive Rock Legend Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) endorses “Made in America” hand sanitizer to support small businesses, healthcare workers, first responders and veterans

Norfolk, Virginia – The small businesses in Virginia today received a major endorsement for their hand sanitizer project from progressive rock and roll legend Ian Anderson, founding member of the band Jethro Tul for their efforts producing  an all “made in America” hand sanitizer.

The Virginia Hand Sanitizer consortium coordinated by the Center for Applied Innovation, LLC (CAI) in Yorktown, Virginia has been coordinating formulation and sales of 80% World Health Organization hand sanitizer to government agencies as well as donating thousands of gallons to first responders, healthcare workers, local charities and other during and following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Group continues to work diligently with a Virginia Service Disabled Veteran-Owned CAI and the non-profit Partners International Foundation’s Helping the Heroes project in a consortium to help produce and

distribute volume production of sanitizers to regional health and emergency workers by leveraging Virginia distilleries, breweries, beer distributors, cider makers, and wineries to support this effort. The consortium provides a seamless, centrally managed, and decentralized operation to meet hand sanitizer needs while helping put people in Virginia back to work and keep them working in these sectors. To date the group has delivered hundreds of thousands of bottles purchased by State and local agencies as well as donated  thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer to a myriad to a growing number of local and regional charities.

Ian Anderson is lending his support to the effort by making it the “only officially sanctioned Jethro Tull sanitizer hand rub”.  Jethro Tull hand sanitizer is sold exclusively through the “Helping the Heroes” website with the proceeds helping small businesses remain open and funding the groups’ donation programs.

The Ballad of Jethro Tull is the hotly anticipated official illustrated history of the legendary prog rock band, due for publication by Rocket 88 Books in November 2019. 

Today, Ian Anderson announced two new recordings have been created especially for the project. The first, The Ballad of Jethro Tull is a narrative poem written and read by Ian Anderson over a unique and original mix of classic Tull music, produced by Anderson himself – and named after the title of the book. The b-side is Ian reading Walter Scott’s 1808 poem, Marmion with musical backing composed for the recording and played by John O’Hara (current Tull keyboard player) on a cathedral organ.

The new 7” single will be exclusive to the 500-copy limited run Signature Edition, each copy signed by Ian, and encased in a hand-made box containing two art prints specially commissioned for the book from renowned artist Peter Klucik, who also created the cover design for the book. 

The Classic Edition of the same book will have a higher print run, be available at a lower price point, and include a download code for the two new recordings.

In a specially recorded video for the website www.jethrotullbook.com, posted today, Ian Anderson, who is overseeing the project and has contributed unseen images and materials from his personal archive, said that the book is 'under construction' and available to pre-order now, for shipping in November.

Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson praises New York’s Edensong as “a great example of the contemporary face of progressive rock.”

Edensong’s history as a band is just as long, epic, and unpredictable as its music. The 2018 lineup includes long-time members like viking-bearded singer/guitarist James Schoen, second singer and bass playing hobbit/spider-demon TD Towers, and hypnotizing “dancing muppet” flute player Barry Seroff. They are joined by the virtuosic koto player and composer Kento Iwasaki, and drummer Nicholas DiGregorio, whose improvisational skill, jazz background, and hallowed status as a longtime friend of the band (largely responsible for turning the founding members onto prog in the first place!) makes him the perfect addition to the lineup.

The group’s albums are their self-released 2008 debut “the Fruit Fallen,” 2016’s ”Years in the Garden of Years” (Laser’s Edge).  The songs prominently feature immersive new textures, from lush keyboard and orchestral arrangements to esoteric percussion from around the world, such as hang drum and Balinese gamelan.  The group’s a festival favorite, most recently appearing at 2017’s ROSfest. 2018 will be an equally ambitious year for Edensong as they will be performing their first UK/European tour with a set at the legendary Summer’s End Festival in Wales.

To celebrate this golden anniversary, Ian Anderson will present 50 years of Jethro Tull in summertime U.S. concerts, as part of the worldwide touring schedule.

The debut album, This Was, was released later that same year.  Founder, frontman and flautist, Ian Anderson, is rightly credited with introducing the flute to rock as a front line instrument, not to mention the codpiece!

The song GOT MY EYE ON YOU, SANTA was written by Anne Leighton, music director/songwriter Roberta Piket, and songwriter Priscilla Harriett. The song’s message transcends all barriers, “Santa, I love you, and I’ve got magical presence and presents for you, created in MY workshop.” “Santa” appears on the compilation “Let's Have a Rockin Christmas Volume 2” by Bongo Boy Records.

Ring Out These Bells (Ring Out, Solstice Bells): Ian Anderson & the Carducci Quartet (The End/BMG) 

Ian Anderson’s “Ring Out These bells” (Ring Out, Solstice Bells) first appeared on Jethro Tull’s tenth studio album, “SONGS FROM THE WOOD.”  With merriment and folklore imagery, the song has found different arrangements and life on 2003’s JETHRO TULL CHRISTMAS ALBUM and 2009’s CHRISTMAS ALBUM.  This year JETHRO TULL THE STRING QUARTETS, Ian’s collaboration with the Carducci Quartet was released, and hit number 1 on the Classical Music Charts.
