    Looking for Answers Dan Berggren  Acoustic folk song with a hopeful, yet trepidatious.feeling about a daughter asking father what the environment will look like when she grows up. Long term / Short term materialism, greed, easy answers, ask questions, learn what's ahead.  The song is loaded with great advice on long-term thinking.

"A-metal-cana"'s Bill Leverty

I’m starting to send out Bill Leverty’s DEEP SOUTH, which is “A-metal-cana music”: traditional folk songs played through a combination of rock influences. Bill’s the guitarist for Firehouse, whose “Don’t Treat Me Bad” was a favorite song of mine when I worked at HIT PARADER around 1990. DEEP SOUTH is his exploration—as a grown up—into folk songs. His family helped him, he studied the music online, did a range of research. I love the results, and he’s continuing the exploration.

The songs on DEEP SOUTH are “Trouble So Hard,” “Run On,” “Boll Weevil,” “Nine Hundred Miles,” “Samson And Delilah,” “Walk Beside Me,” “Hit The Road Jack,” “Rain And Snow,” “Wade in the Water,” “Man of Constant Sorrow.”

BILL LEVERTY

Bill Leverty's Deep South album.


I'm starting work soon with Bill Leverty, who you might know as Firehouse's guitarist. He's created a folk rock folk rock (or as he calls it “Ametal-cana”) album called Deep South, which features traditional songs done in Bill's style, not Firehouse's, who had hits “Don't Treat Me Bad” and “Love of a Lifetime” in the 1990s.

Some of the songs (from “Boll Weevil” through “Rain and Snow”) are on Bill's REVERBNATION page.   Bill's dad taught him these songs as a child.   It's as though Bill blended the rock blues genre made famous by Cream and combined it with folk and church songs and attitude.   (He also threw in Ray Charles' “Hit The Road Jack.”)

Vocally, he's got a rich baritone with blues-rock, gruff and wail. My focus is to get him to all the folk and songwriting media (though metal and classic rock folks can certainly contact me on Bill), because the album is unique, and should be heard by folks outside just the “hair band” community.
