New Live Music "Game of Chicken" Live at ProgStock by Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius

“Game of Chicken” is the new single and video, it was recorded live during Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius’ performance at Progstock Festival, October 13, 2019 at Union County Performing Arts Center. Rahway, NJ.

The “game of chicken” is a game in which two drivers drive towards each other on a collision course: one must swerve, or both may die in the crash, but if one driver swerves and the other does not, the one who swerved will be called a “chicken,” or a coward.

Joe Deninzon says: “I thought about how dysfunctional our society is, how we continue to kick the can down the road for future generations to clean up our mess, how we scream over each other in our online media echo chambers and refuse to listen to differing opinions. Our planet is on the verge of destruction and we are too busy trying to destroy each other instead of coming together to try to solve our problems.” This is the first single from our upcoming CD/DVD, “Behind the Curtain: Live at Progstock” due out in May 2022 on Melodic Revolution Records. New Single in Europe: HYSTERIA by Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius

Band Gives muse Song “Queen” Treatment Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius are releasing a new single HYSTERIA for International Audiences.  HYSTERIA is a “Queen-esque” cover of the muse hit.  Deninzon chooses his covers carefully. “Being a fan of Muse, the song spoke to him. “We would perform it on our live shows over the past few years, and I felt it suited us and fit in with our set next to our originals. I wanted to record a version similar to the original, but the band refused, saying why re-create something that was so perfect to begin with? They forced me to re-imagine the song entirely.”  “I was having a very good day vocally and channeled my inner Matt Bellamy, hitting the E’s! Rocking my “Viper” electric violin through a whammy pedal and an Earthquake Arpenoid in the solo. We pulled out all the stops!” The operatic intro is my tip of the hat to Queen, who obviously influenced the music of MUSE. Two of my all-time favorite bands! This was the first time we had an operatic Soprano (Melanie Mitrano) on a Stratospheerius recording.” Here is the music video for HYSTERIA.   Recently passing the 150 mark of radio stations playing the band’s latest album, GUILTY OF INNOCENCE, the album is finding support in Europe—thanks, in part, to a media outreach campaign by Judith Fisher of BJF PR. The group is being played a number of times by iconic radio hosts including Mark from Holland and Dick Heath’s Alt2 Radio Show out of Loughborough. (Electric Violinist/Singer Amplifies Muse’s Passionate Song)

Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius’ new music video and single, HYSTERIA will be live on YouTube, Spotify, and digital stores on August 4.

HYSTERIA is a Wagnerian/Queen-esque cover of Muse’s 2003 hit.  The song is going to be on the upcoming Stratospheerius album, GUILTY OF INNOCENCE, out September 29 on Melodic Revolution Records, the leading North American progressive rock record label. 

Directed by musician Dave Milone (of the band Radio 4), the video for HYSTERIA features a dramatic performance of the band punctuated with explosions. Deninzon says the explosions represent “Someone who has had enough! Feeling hopeless frustration with the current state of the world, breaking out of a bad relationship, or someone held back from their dreams and ambitions, a prisoner in their mind or in a literal sense…or both!”  

Joe is a huge Muse and Queen fan, and pays tribute to both bands in their version of this song, "The original was so perfect that we wanted to reimagine the song entirely!" The single features singer Melanie Mitrano, the first time Stratospheerius has ever had an operatic soprano guesting on any of their recordings.

Students and Faculty Present Nightly Concerts For The Public At The Bell Center

Joe Deninzon will be joining Mark Wood's Rock Orchestra Camp (MWROC) as a faculty July 14-20, 2013 in Olathe, Kansas.

International recording artist and Emmy-winning composer Mark Wood, one of the founding members of the multiplatinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra and creator of the revolutionary Viper electric violin, has brought together some of the country’s most revered musicians and masters of the violin, viola, and cello to participate in the 4th annual Mark Wood Rock Orchestra Camp (MWROC) to be held at Mid-America Nazarene University from July 14-20, 2013.

Over 100 musicians and singers from around the world gather in Olathe, Kansas every year to create a powerful summit dedicated to exploring the exciting creative terrain of improvisation, performance, and technology. There will be high-caliber concerts from Monday through Friday, culminating in a final extravaganza featuring all attendees and faculty.

Faculty member Joe Deninzon is the leader of the band Stratospheerius and author of the book, "PLUGGING IN: A Guide To Gear and New Techniques for the 21st Century Violinist (Mel Bay books). Often called "The Jimi Hendrix of the Electric Violin," his innovative performances on the electric seven-string violin and his compositions blend rock, funk, jazz, classical, and Eastern European Gypsy influences. While leading Stratospheerius since 2001, Joe has worked with Bruce Springsteen, Sheryl Crow, Les Paul, Phoebe Snow, and Ritchie Blackmore, and President Clinton.  He can be heard on over 100 recordings and jingles as a violinist and string arranger, including the new NIKE commercial which was repeatedly broadcast during the London Olympics. 

Also teaching are world-renowned female classical violinist Rachel Barton Pine, a Billboard chart-topping artist who has performed with Jimmy Page and orchestras throughout the world; Tracy Silverman from the Turtle Island String Quartet, and musicians who have performed with such legendary musicians as Sheryl Crow, Christina Aguilera, Placido Domingo, and more. Mark Wood will be premiering original material and orchestral arrangements of songs by Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and more.

Nightly concerts are open to the public and will take place in the state-of-the-art concert hall at the Bell Cultural Events Center on the campus of Mid-America Nazarene University, located at 2030 E. College Way, Olathe, KS. Tickets are $15 per concert for advance purchase; $10 per concert for area students. Group rates and package pricing are available. As one of America’s leading music education advocates and pioneers, Mark Wood is embarking on his 13th year of inspiring string players with his groundbreaking Electrify Your Strings (EYS) program.
