Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius are celebrating their new live box set, “Behind the Curtain (Live at ProgStock),” which hit the top 10 on Relix/JamBand radio Charts.  The group, which has 5 albums out, is signed to Melodic Revolution Records.  Joe is the new violinist with legendary rockers Kansas, now on tour celebrating their 50th anniversary. He has played violin for the Who, Bruce Springsteen, 50Cent, Sheryl Crow,  and as the concertmaster for Renaissance.

Joe’s bandmates in Stratospheerius are Jason Gianni-drums (The Ultimate Queen Celebration, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Rock of Ages, Neal Morse Band), Michelangelo Quirinale-guitar (Thrilldriver), Paul Ranieri-bass (Mark Wood, Riot Act), and new keyboardist Bill Hubauer (We Came From Space, Neal Morse Band).

The story of “We Came From Space” started at lunch.  High school friends Bill Hubauer (Neal Morse Band) and Dave Buzard were catching up and talking music. We Came From Space was born that day. The friends decided to create an album that they would want to listen to when they were kids.  They considered their influences: Yes, Genesis, Gamma, Jim Carroll Band, (among many, many others), and began adding their own textures. Two years later the debut album, “How to be Human” was released. 2018 brought the revamped rhythm section of Tim Malone (drums) and Dave Hawk (Bass and vocals) and the breakthrough album “While You Were Away”. All members contributed to the writing and arranging of that release and the 2023’s “Overlords.” The band blends engaging musicianship with sardonic but hopeful lyrics. This year We Came From Space hit the road, playing high profile dates with Crack The Sky and The Winery Dogs. The takeaway: Sometimes lunch is the most important meal of the day!

New Live Music "Game of Chicken" Live at ProgStock by Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius

“Game of Chicken” is the new single and video, it was recorded live during Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius’ performance at Progstock Festival, October 13, 2019 at Union County Performing Arts Center. Rahway, NJ.

The “game of chicken” is a game in which two drivers drive towards each other on a collision course: one must swerve, or both may die in the crash, but if one driver swerves and the other does not, the one who swerved will be called a “chicken,” or a coward.

Joe Deninzon says: “I thought about how dysfunctional our society is, how we continue to kick the can down the road for future generations to clean up our mess, how we scream over each other in our online media echo chambers and refuse to listen to differing opinions. Our planet is on the verge of destruction and we are too busy trying to destroy each other instead of coming together to try to solve our problems.” This is the first single from our upcoming CD/DVD, “Behind the Curtain: Live at Progstock” due out in May 2022 on Melodic Revolution Records. Much more to come…

Marshall Crenshaw Historical Release Out August 27

The Wild, Exciting Sounds of Marshall Crenshaw:
Live In The 20th and 21st Century

Sunset Blvd. Records is proud to release The Wild, Exciting Sounds of Marshall Crenshaw: Live In The 20th and 21st Century, a two-disc live retrospective of the acclaimed songwriter/performer’s work from the early 1980s to date.  The album is due out August 27, 2021.

Whether you’ve been a Crenshaw fan for 40 years or know little beyond “Someday, Someway,” this 2 CD set is a revelation. Disc one, recorded in 1982 and 1983, is filled with performances from radio shows in New York, Boston and New Jersey, and focuses largely on songs from his self-titled debut album and the follow-up, Field Day.

“It was such a cool band, with Chris Donato, me and Robert, and our brother John hitting the orchestra bells and the tambourine and whatever else he had up there; it sounds like kids having fun.”

Disc two, which Marshall curated himself, is a sampler of his work from the last 25 years, featuring live versions of songs that appeared on many different albums and EPs.  On six tracks Marshall Crenshaw is ably backed by The Bottle Rockets, featuring the off-the-chain guitar stylings of John Horton, and Brian Hennemen (and M.C. himself).

The package comes complete with detailed liner notes, written by Marshall, and many never- before-seen photos from over the years and decades.

ProgStock Presents Virtual Series This August 1, 8, 22, 29 on StageIt.com

ProgStock Festival, the American Northeast’s Only International Progressive Rock Festival, is proud to bring you the ProgStock Presents Virtual Series.

The pandemic has closed music venues and brought in-person live music performances to a screeching halt. We don’t know how long we will have to wait before it will be truly safe to stage a festival, but we will be back! Meanwhile, we will be bringing music right to you with some great shows from artists performing live in their homes or home studios. The series will be presented every Saturday night, 5PM – 11PM US Eastern, starting on August 1, 2020. Confirmed dates are also August 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Direct Ticket Link for ProgStock Presents: https://www.stageit.com/ProgStock
ProgStock Festival on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ProgStock

The individual performances on StageIt are separate shows. Audience members will purchase a ticket to each performance individually, not the whole night as a block. Some shows will be 45 minutes and others will be 90, so we may have as few as three shows or as many as six on each Saturday night.

StageIt is all about experiencing music in the moment, duplicating the live music experience as closely as possible. You have to be there to see it, just like you would in a venue, so shows are only available on their site during the performance window. Some of our artists may choose to capture their shows and make them available later on some other service and the ProgStock Festival crew may even capture some of the shows – with artist permission, of course – but the shows will not be available on StageIt outside the show window.

Artists on the roster for August include: Rachel Flowers, Julie Slick, Jean Pageau of Mystery, Frogbelly & Symphony, Bob Richardson (Cell15), Jane Getter & Adam Holzman, Mile Marker Zero, Melanie Mau & Martin Schnella, Potter’s Daughter, Joe Deninzon, Harry Waters & Larry McNally (McNally Waters) and Mark ‘Truey’ Trueack & Sean Timms (Unitopia), with more to be announced...  Stay tuned for performance schedule.
