Lifesigns to Embark on US Tour following ProgStock Festival in October 2024, with support from Mike Keneally, Gregg Bendian, Teddy Kumpel, and Matt Dorsey
UK Band, Lifesigns, is touring the US for the first time with a headlining performance at ProgStock Festival in Rutherford, NJ, and shows in Albany, NY, Buffalo, NY, and Chicago, IL
After playing their first-ever show on US soil at ProgStock Festival on October 20, 2024, UK Band Lifesigns will take to the road for a one-week tour with support from Mike Keneally (Zappa, Satriani, Devon Townsend, ProgJect) and Matt Dorsey (Beth Hart, Sound of Contact, ProgJect, Dave Kerzner Band).
The first show of this mini tour will take place at the Strand Theater in Hudson Falls, New York on Tuesday, October 22. This show only will feature a special performance by “The Mike Keneally Trio,” with Mike Keneally (of course), Gregg Bendian and Teddy Kumpel, and an opening set by Matt Dorsey.
The tour will then move on to Electric City in Buffalo, NY, on Wednesday, October 23, and a private concert in Chicago, IL, on Saturday, October 26, where Mike Keneally and Matt Dorsey will open the show for Lifesigns.
Lifesigns is an independent UK-based band of virtuoso professional musicians. Members of Lifesigns have worked with artists ranging from Asia and The Scorpions through to pop and jazz icons like Bonnie Tyler and Quincy Jones.
Their latest studio album, Altitude, was crowdfunded by their dedicated fans in 40 countries worldwide (including 36 US states) and has been compared to everything from Steely Dan to Pink Floyd to U.K.
Their previous album, Cardington, got to number 4 in the UK Indie chart without so much as a play on mainstream radio. The band has toured the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Lithuania and have played on five sailings of the iconic Cruise To The Edge out of Florida, USA. On the 2024 Cruise, Simon Phillips (Toto, Protocol) guested on drums as our regular drummer was unavailable. In July 2023, Lifesigns released a live album recorded at De Boerderij in the Netherlands.
Lifesigns’ touring band includes John Young on lead vocals and keyboards (Asia, Scorpions, Bonnie Tyler), Jon Poole (Cardiacs, Dr. Hook) on bass and backing vocals, Dave Bainbridge (Iona, The Strawbs, Celestial Fire, Circuline) on guitars and keyboards, and Chris Mack (Iluvatar, Oblivion Sun, Edison’s Children) on drums and percussion.
Mike Keneally is
long acclaimed as one of the world’s most creative and intense guitar and
keyboard players, with talents as a vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer
and multi-instrumentalist nearly unequalled in rock music. Keneally has
released 24 albums of his original music since 1992 and has built a body of
work of remarkable inventiveness and originality.
Keneally played in Frank Zappa’s last touring
band, performing as a vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist. He’s appeared on
many Zappa albums, is currently a touring member of both Dethklok and the Joe
Satriani Band, and has also recorded or performed with Robert Fripp, Wayne
Kramer, Kevin Gilbert, Solomon Burke, Steve Vai, Chickenfoot, Bear McCreary,
Henry Kaiser, Michael Manring, Screamin Jay Hawkins, Andy Prieboy, Mullmuzzler,
The Persuasions and many others.
Keneally’s most recent album is You
Must Be This Tall, featuring Mike playing all instruments on several
pieces, as well as performances from Marco Minnemann, Bryan Beller and Andy
Partridge.
Gregg Bendian is a percussionist/composer/producer/educator/podcaster
from Teaneck, New Jersey. During his wide-ranging career he has toured
internationally and recorded with jazz and progressive artists Pat Metheny,
Ornette Coleman, Todd Rundgren, Jan Hammer, The Mahavishnu Project, Cecil
Taylor, Keneally-Bendian-Lunn, John Zorn, The Musical Box, Derek Bailey, Nels
Cline, and Zoot Horn Rollo, among many others. An accomplished percussionist
and a composer of over 200 works, Gregg has created a body of innovative instrumental
music for jazz, rock, percussion (solo and ensemble) ands mixed chamber groups,
which include his Interzone and Trio Pianissimo bands.
Teddy Kumpel played guitar on the Grammy winning album Home by Tim
Kubart, sang backgrounds with Nine Inch Nails on the MTV music awards; toured
and/or recorded with Joe Jackson, Rickie Lee Jones, Goodie Mob, Feist, Toots
Hibbert; played on many soundtracks including Anchorman and Talladega Nights;
produced, engineered and helped develop many artists, all while nurturing his
own art and unique vision over his 30 year + career.
Matt Dorsey is a California-based multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter known for his work with Sound of Contact, In Continuum, The Dave Kerzner Band, Circuline, the progressive rock “super-group” cover band ProgJect, and most recently his solo project The Matt Dorsey Band. Matt wrote and produced his first solo album entitled Let Go, with Matt on guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and singing both lead and background vocals, and guest drummers Marco Minnemann and Jonathan Mover. Joining him on keyboards for the song Waiting For The Fall is his Sound of Contact bandmate, Dave Kerzner. The Matt Dorsey Band, with Matt on guitar/vocals, Randy McStine (Steven Wilson Band, Porcupine Tree) on bass/backing vocals, Andrew Colyer (Circuline, The Tubes) on keyboards/backing vocals, and Chris Dorsey on drums/backing vocals debuted at ProgStock Festival 2023. Following the festival, Matt opened for Progressive Rock giants Marillion at Marillion Weekend in Canada. Matt will return to ProgStock in 2024 on bass and backing vocals with the band Circuline and then head out on this tour opening for the UK band Lifesigns with his friend and former bandmate, Mike Keneally, on Lifesign’s first tour in the US.

Robeone’s goal with his composition, “Peace A Dream” is to
bring peace of mind in these troubling times. The Video and music are meant to
carry you away to a peaceful place even just for a few minutes.”

Recently Robert performed at the ProgStock music festival to support The Bob Moog Foundation. Robert’s last video, “Hollow,” from his most recent album, “Dream Suite,” won first Prog UK Magazine’s Video of The Week.
Robert’s also been busy as a member of
Red32 on Melodic Revolution Records and Tony Romero’s Vortex Zen, plus Joe Mac’s American Garage. (MRR Records). As
a keyboardist, Robert’s played live with artists and bands including
States, Mayson, Blue Angel, Ruth Copeland, Ronnie Spector, Rhett Tyler.
His studio work has included working with Johnny Nash, Star Cruiser,
Rian Adkinson. Robert wrote and composed “The Fiery Narrows-Following
The Path of John Charles Fremont,” which received “The Filmmaker’s Choice Award”

I chose Look Around by the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, because it feels like the good people that gave up on public service years ago are looking around, and getting together to work on solutions that will make a difference. This folk rock band is fronted by Joziah Longo. The band has an incredible time at Cropredy this past Summer, and came out as the Festival Favorite.
Dan Berggren, who was my radio teacher at SUNY Fredonia, is celebrating 55 years on the radio. This veteran songwriter's "Free to Read" is midtempo folk with a marching beat, acoustic guitar, bass male vocals, "We need to be free to read." He sings a list of books that have been banned: To Kill a Mockingbird, Beloved, American Psycho, Harry Potter, Diary of Anne Frank.....

I Cry For You by Tony Moore is about Tony's emotional struggle as his mom went through dementia, Sounding a little like Yes' Jon Anderson, the symphonic pop-rock song shares his memories of her both during and before the diagnosis. The former Cutting Crew keyboardist recently co-wrote "Love Never Dies" with Julian Lennon on Julian's new album, JUDE. Tony is currently working on his critically acclaimed one man show and album called AWAKE.

You Hold My Soul, by Nicole Bacher, explores themes of gratitude and dedication towards her partner for their journey together ... He helped her fight depression. "You made me whole let me be bold you hold my soul." One of my Toastmasters' buddies is a corporate headhunter and wrote, "Great energy and you can tell they are working together so well as a team" and "The song is great."
“Take Your Medicine" by electric violinist/vocalist/prog rocker Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius deals with hypocrisy. The song confronts a liar and watches him run away "You can never win, take your medicine" A live version of this song is available for radio programmers as it appears on the group's upcoming double CD/DVD/Blu Ray "Behind the Curtain: Live At ProgStock."

Chick Corea’s “Spain,” Live by Joe Deninzon, Rachel Flowers, Alex Skolnick
A live version of Chick Corea’s “Spain”
featuring Joe Deninzon, Rachel Flowers, and Testament’s Alex Skolnick is now on
all streaming media. “Spain” is one of 16 live songs that will be on the
upcoming Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius “Behind the Curtain: Live at
ProgStock” box set out November 18. (There will be a streaming
digital release of just the live music on October 28.)

The performances on the live release took place
in 2019 and 2021. “Spain” was taken from the ’21 performance. Joe says it was a
spontaneous decision to play “Spain” with his friends, “One of the perks of
being a jazz musician is that you can walk into a room anywhere in the world,
jump on stage with people you’ve never met who may or may not speak your
language, and weave together a spontaneous concert based on a shared musical
language.”
On October 2nd, 2021, when the late great John
Goodsall from Brand X fell ill, Stratospheerius was asked last minute to
headline ProgStock, the biggest prog rock festival in the Northeastern U.S.
Preceding Stratospheerius’ set was the amazing multi-instrumentalist Rachel
Flowers, who recently contributed her talents to the band’s single, “Storm
Surge.” Later that night bassist Percy Jones had a set, which included
guitarist Alex Skolnick, a former member of Stratospheerius. Joe says, “We
decided to play Chick Corea’s ‘Spain,’ a song we all knew well.” Without
any rehearsal, and Alex and Rachel meeting each other for the first time on
stage, they created magic.
Led by electric violinist/vocalist Joe Deninzon,
who has been called “The Jimi Hendrix of the electric
violin,”Stratospheerius have showcased their “frenzied mélange of
progressive rock, jazz fusion and funkabilly” throughout the world. Band
members are: Joe Deninzon-electric violin/vocals (Bruce Springsteen,
Renaissance, The Who, Ritchie Blackmore, Trans-Siberian Orchestra),
Jason Gianni-drums (The Ultimate Queen Celebration, Trans-Siberian
Orchestra, Rock of Ages, Neal Morse Band), Michaelangelo Quirinale-guitar
(Thrilldriver), and Paul Ranieri-bass (Mark Wood, Circuline, Rock This Town).
Their last album, Guilty of Innocence hit
number 4 on the Relix/Jamband radio charts, 72 on the European Indy charts.
Their music has received over 3 million plays online, and the band has opened
for John5, Martin Barre, Gary Hoey, The Levin Brothers (Tony and Pete), Tim
Reynolds, Mickey Hart, Mark Wood, and John
Scofield. Stratospheerius was a winner of the John
Lennon International Songwriting Competition, and the Musician’s Atlas
Independent Music Awards.

New Live Music "Game of Chicken" Live at ProgStock by Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius
“Game of Chicken” is the new single and video, it was recorded live during Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius’ performance at Progstock Festival, October 13, 2019 at Union County Performing Arts Center. Rahway, NJ.
The “game of
chicken” is a game in which two drivers drive towards each other on a collision
course: one must swerve, or both may die in the crash, but if one driver
swerves and the other does not, the one who swerved will be called a “chicken,” or a coward.
Joe Deninzon
says: “I thought about how dysfunctional our society is, how we continue
to kick the can down the road for future generations to clean up our mess, how
we scream over each other in our online media echo chambers and refuse to
listen to differing opinions. Our planet is on the verge of destruction and we
are too busy trying to destroy each other instead of coming together to try to
solve our problems.” This is the first single from our upcoming CD/DVD, “Behind
the Curtain: Live at Progstock” due out in May 2022 on Melodic Revolution

At the young age of 70 Robert has just released his
6th solo recording, ROBEONE on LABEL.
The keyboardist says, “Robeone is
short for Robeoneknobe-- a nickname I got years ago at work for being a huge ‘Star
Wars’ fan. It stuck and I decided to use it for my music name.’”
ROBEONE’s Six instrumental keyboard compositions
effortlessly flow into different styles of New Age, Jazz, Prog and Fusion
musics. Robert uses a range of keyboard
gear including Moog, Mellotron, Kurtzweil, Moog, Mellotron, Yamaha, Roland,
Korg, Kurtzweil, Ensonic Roli Seaboard, EMU, and Ashun Sound Machine. He says: “It’s my wish that this music will
take my listeners away from the current times into a musical journey that
serves as an opportunity to feel better.”
Robert has been recording since the early 1970s with progressive
rockers Mayson on Bearsville Records, pop rock acts The States on Chrysalis and
Boardwalk Records, the eclectic Tony Romero’s Vortex on Melodic Revolution
Records, and the progressive rock group ZOOM with Paul Landry on New Age Music
Planet Records. He’s worked with a number of artists—including notables Ronnie
Spector and keyboards for Johnny Nash when “I Can See Clearly Now” was a hit. He played keyboards for the Award-Winning documentary
Soundtrack "The Fiery Narrows - Following The Path Of John Charles Fremont.”
Robert continues to collaborate with many artists…. Recently
he had a solo set at ProgStock, and will be performing solo, as well, this spring 2022 at RoSFest. The ProgStock promoters dubbed Robert as the
Patron Saint for the Bob Moog Foundation, for connecting them with that North
Carolina-based non profit!
