Robeone Celebrates Bob Moog at 90 and the Moogseum’s 5th Year!
Michelle Moog-Koussa's TedX Speech on Encouraging Creative People
Robeone (aka Robert Schindler) is celebrating the 90th Birthday of inventor Bob Moog and the 5th Anniversary of the Moogseum with a special nod to this founding father of the modern day synthesizer.
Moog was a pioneer in electric sound, and dedicated his life to musicians, music, and innovation. His inventions innovated the sound, usages, and sizes of synthesizers, hence establishing the brand of the Moog Synthesizer.
The Bob Moog Foundation (founded in
2006) thanks Robeone for his contributions. Says founder Michelle Moog-Koussa, “Robert has supported us in just about every way possible,
from frequent financial donations to volunteering to in-kind donations to
attending all of our events and purchasing all of our new merch releases. He's
always the first to show up to our events, and always offers to do more.” The Moogseum and
the Bob Moog Foundation online store features his CDs and vinyl; 100% of the
sales of his music there and online benefit the Bob Moog Foundation.
In celebration of the Moogseum’s 5th Anniversary, Robeone was honored to play “The Star Spangled Banner” on a 1981 Moog Liberation Keytar from the Bob Moog Foundation Archives at Greenwood Field, on May 24 at the Men’s Asheville City Soccer Club match against Marietta, Georgia’s Southern Soccer Academy Kings. Asheville continued its dominance over Georgia with a resounding 4-1 victory! Excerpts were caught by a fan; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alxb0GNt4DY.
The Moogseum, a project of the Bob Moog
Foundation, opened in 2019, and has welcomed over 40,000
visitors from all over the world. Ms. Moog-Koussa
says that the Bob Moog Foundation was founded after
communications from “tens of thousands of people from around the world during
my father's illness and passing” in 2005. “People sent us
testimonials about how Bob Moog had changed their lives, and even
transformed their lives, through his instruments. We felt this legacy of
inspiration deserved to be carried forward to the next generation.”
Tours of the museum included viewing recent additions of rare instruments and historical materials from Bob Moog’s legacy. Visitors were allowed to play a rare Minimoog Voyager Signature Edition serial number 0176.
Robeone says, “The importance of Bob Moog’s inventions and his complete passion helped create an industry that still allows musicians to express themselves in ways we never dreamed possible. My life was changed when I heard the Moog solo at the end of ‘Lucky Man’ by Emerson Lake and Palmer. I couldn’t wait to be able to not only play one but to own one. The Minimoog was just being released, and I was saving every penny.”
Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, the hallmark education project of the Bob Moog Foundation, teaches young children about the science of sound through music and technology . Robeone explains, “With the lack of music education in schools, it is so important to me to inspire the youth of today.” Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool has trained over 200 teachers. Over 30,000 children have been reached through Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool multi-sensory lessons.
The Moogseum is at 56 Broadway
Street, Asheville, NC 28801.

Jaclyn Bradley Returns Home and Releases New Single, “Hometown” on July 7
A Buddhist monk stood in singer-songwriter Jaclyn Bradley’s Ireland apartment. “You have it all wrong,” he told her. “Reincarnation doesn’t just happen at the end of life… Being renewed can happen in any instant; you can be reborn at any time.”
A week later Bradley learned things in that same apartment that led to the end of her marriage and subsequently led to the American singer moving home. The monk, who was her neighbor, worked at McDonalds [true story], so he brought her boxes marked as “nuggets” and “French fries” so she could pack up her life and be reborn.
As a teen, Jaclyn Bradley left the lakeside town of Lorain, Ohio to pursue music. The years and miles away led her on many adventures: studying opera at Indiana University, working in television in L.A., and to New York City where she stopped her roommate from going to work at The World Trade Center on September 11th. After watching the Twin Towers fall from her roof, Jaclyn turned from singing classical works to writing her own songs.
The road also led Jaclyn to hospitals where she conducted music therapy bedside and in surgery. With motherhood came a move to The Netherlands, then Ireland where she raised her daughter while recording music, making films, and starring as a contestant on The Voice of Holland and Ireland’s Got Talent.
Arriving full-circle, the journey back to her birthplace of Lorain and the opening of her heart to love again is the topic of Bradley’s latest musical release, “Hometown.”
Lorain is a town famous for its lighthouse; perhaps it was the light of that Lake Erie beacon guided Bradley home. In late 2019, right before the pandemic hit, Bradley moved with her daughter back to the place she was born. “To say I wasn't broken and scared would be untrue,” shares Bradley, “but in the nurturing place that raised me, I was able to thrive, reinvent and find light again.”
This is not that first time Lorain, Ohio has been reverently mentioned by a creative native. Legendary author, Toni Morrison was also born in Lorain and wrote in her autobiographical novel, The Bluest Eye, “Few people can say the names of their hometowns with such sly affection. Perhaps because they don’t have hometowns, just places they were born.” Lorain seems to be the former for Ms. Bradley.
In 2020, she opened a music school, “Rock Town Music Academy” where she now teaches students of all ages to find their unique songs and voices. In just a few years, the school was awarded best music instruction in Lorain County. Currently, it’s nominated for best music school in the area by Cleveland Magazine.
Bradley found love again. Hometown, a song about finding everything you were searching for in your own backyard, was penned in Bradley’s garden with her partner/co-writer Derek Connell. Jaclyn invited her local friends to be a part of the project and throughout the song you may hear chants of friends singing along around a campfire.
Hometown was produced in Nashville, Tennessee by Austin Moorhead (Mickey Guyton, Carly Pearce).
“On the way to the Nashville studio to record Hometown, we were picked up by a Lyft driver from Lorain” proclaims Bradley. “During the drive we shared childhood memories and called mutual friends. It’s amazing how signs and gifts are always all around us if we are open to them.”
As for the song, Bradley hopes that it will touch the hearts of anyone who is connected to their roots. “Sometimes we find that everything we are searching for already lives inside us. The most beautiful trip is always the one you take back to your own heart.”
“Hometown” and its b-side “Burn for You” will be available on vinyl and all streaming services on July 7th.

Colouratura’s WTF Was That?! On Vinyl
Colouratura, an art rock trio from the Ohio Valley USA, have reissued their fourth album “WTF Was That?!” on vinyl on Melodic Revolution Records (Amplified Distribution). Sporting a fresh new mix from bandleader and producer Ian Beabout, “WTF Was That?!” is a varied and ambitious record inspired by West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania life and folklore.
The band
consists of Ian Beabout (flute, synths, backing vocals, production),
Nathan James (bass, vocals, piano), and Derek Pavlic (guitars, viola,
mellotron, synths, glockenspiel, vocoder), aided by distinguished guests
including Refestramus’ Derek Ferguson (drums and percussion), plus talented
friends including drummer Dave Trik of
Brimstone Coven, and Chris Boros (mellotron). The name,
Colouratura was conceived by Nathan James as a metaphor on the various
stylistic shifts implemented by the band - together they draw on the likes of
metal, prog, pop, funk and folk music.
About the
album’s production and vinyl reissue, Beabout says that remixing the vinyl has
“given our album new life! Thanks to this sonic overhaul I feel it better
represents what we all had in mind when writing and recording it, because when
we finished the album for CD and digital release, I was limited by a dying
MacBook. When I upgraded my production gear and software, I felt it was a good
time to revisit the sonics of the recording. I think it now has a fuller, more
robust sound.”
The vinyl has
a beautiful presentation, including a light blue splatter design and a full
color insert with the band photo. An unboxing video can be viewed on Beabout’s
YouTube channel https://youtu.be/KEmRm8BNc60?si=cRi0p8nBpPe6Mbn5. Songs from the new vinyl mix can be heard on the group’s Bandcamp
page. colouratura.bandcamp.com/album/wtf-was-that-2024-lp-remix.
“The original
version will always be the canonical one, it is the one on streaming,” says
Beabout, “but to me the album is finally finished and it is something I’m very
proud of.”
Press:
"Honest
‘70s-style rock music with nods to early Wishbone Ash, early Tull and Traffic
even as hints of Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and Anekdoten creep in here and
there. A thoroughly satisfying listen!"
-Steve
Roberts, ZNR Records
“The band's
music is more progressive than progressive. The album offers a sound that is
more like so-called ‘mixture rock’ than ‘progressive rock,’ as if their musical
tastes are all stewed together. What awaits the listener after listening to the
playful and free-spirited arrangements, which will betray the listener's
expectations? This is a work that you should definitely hear for yourself.”
- CDs Vinyl
Japan Store
“The results
are vertiginous-- blissed-out and blessed in the music’s festive concern: let’s
just hope the ‘was’ in ‘WTF Was
That?!’ doesn’t mean this record is the group’s
last.”
- Dmitry
Epstein, dmme.net review
“This does
not seem like a modern recording at all, as there is something about it which
cries analogue as opposed to digital and playing a download just seems wrong as
this should be vinyl, nothing less. This is music which has been allowed to
breathe and move in whatever direction it needs to.”
- Kev
Rowland, ProgArchives Review
“This is
their fourth release and they are making waves with their 'off the wall' music
and sounds. I find this to be a real treat for all listeners. I must admit,
they have a great '70s sound, Are they true hippies in 2023?”
- Jim
Allford, Steel Notes Magazine
“Takes the
music seriously, but it doesn’t take itself seriously!”
- Jason
Berry, CatSynthTV

Dan Spencer’s New Book: The 14 Unshakable Laws of Learning Music (How to Master Any Instrument and Singing in 5 Minutes a Day)
Music mentor Dan Spencer’s latest book “The 14 Unshakable Laws of Learning Music: How to Master Any Instrument and Singing in 5 Minutes a Day” is a manifestation of his mission to help people make music. He believes, “music is one of many possible paths to become the best versions of ourselves as individuals, families, communities, and societies.”
Dan found for himself that pursuing a career in playing,
composing, writing books, interviewing GRAMMY Winners, Rock and Roll Hall of
Famers and #1 Billboard Charting artists on his "Best Music
Podcast and teaching helped him find balance in his life. “The 14
Unshakable Laws of Learning Music” provides step-by-step methods and philosophies, showing how anyone can make
music regardless of age, talent or experience. Dan learned that the process of
developing music skills includes 14 “unshakable laws.” These actions include
“Make time for music,” and “Find a good teacher” as well as developing specific
balance and habits, and finding good sources to help the student learn. Good sources include music apps, books, courses, free
online resources, and teachers so music-makers can learn without wasting time
and energy.
“The 14 Unshakable Laws of Learning Music” re-frames and re-thinks the situations musicians go through, and how they
can directly work with the goals of mastering music instruments and singing
without getting stuck along the way.
One of Dan’s most
crucial mastery step is “Why spending just five minutes today on music is the
best thing you can do for yourself.” Giving yourself five minutes
is a gateway “to knowing you were productive, and can avoid overwhelm and guilt,
which will enable you to step forward in confidence and do things you’ve always dreamed of.”
Dan says, “Everyone
loves music and most of us have dreamed of playing an instrument or singing our
hearts out, but we hesitate to dive in because we think we might be missing
some piece of the puzzle.”
About the author
Dan Spencer has helped thousands of students
take steps toward their music dreams. He's the author of “The Best
Books for Beginners” music series, including ”Best Guitar Book for
Beginners,” and “The Best Music Theory Book for Beginners.” He has 2
degrees in music: Modern Guitar Performance at Music Academy
International (sister school of Berklee ) and a Bachelors (B.M.) Jazz
Concentration from Montclair State University.
Elliott Murphy “Old-Timer”
In celebration of turning seventy-five last March and in conjunction with his “50 years on the road” anniversary (with over forty albums and three-thousand shows all around the world), rock ‘n roll legend Elliott Murphy has released a new single "Old-Timer" on all streaming platforms.
OLD TIMER WAS inspired by Elliott’s annual “Birthday Shows” in Paris (where he has lived for the last 35 years). As he tells it: “Last March, I received a splendid birthday blast-off during my annual sold-out two-night soiree at the fabled New Morning club in my adopted hometown of Paris and I wanted to write and perform a song especially for that momentous occasion. New Morning is my home away from home as I’ve been playing there steadily for over thirty years now (joining the ranks of such notables as Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Chet Baker and even Prince who have graced its historic stage). I was inspired to write “Old-Timer” just a week before my shows, as a kind of self-congratulatory birthday song from me to myself. It was my last song of the night, and the audience reaction was so heartwarming that I went right into my son Gaspard Murphy’s studio to record it the following week.”
The
introduction to the song is an energetic acoustic guitar riff slowing down, and
then the lyrics begin. Elliott says the
arrangement reflects the lyrics. “I wanted the song to represent ageing as a
visceral function of slowing down so I asked my producer Gaspard to take my
finger picked nylon string guitar and speed it up to warp speed at the intro
and then slow it down. Just like life …”

OLD-TIMER (Elliott Murphy)
When
most of who you are walks behind you - And your days are growing short
and passing fast
And
your memory plays tricks to protect you now - Well you know … you just can’t
change the past
And
I say this is something to be proud of - To have done it all and lived to tell
the tale
I’m
a stone-cold rock and roll survivor now - An old timer who’s not taking down
his sail
I’m
cruising toward a hundred that’s my goal - And I’d love to take you with me
heart and soul
We'll
be heading round the corner - Maybe move someplace warmer - And with you I’ll
never be alone
And
I say this is something to be proud of - To have done it all and lived to tell
the tale
I’m
a stone-cold rock and roll survivor now - An old timer who’s not taking down
his sail
Did
I tell you about the time - When I was twenty-nine - And Paris was waiting for
me
And
I say this is something to be proud of - To have done it all and lived to tell
the tale
I’m
a stone-cold rock and roll survivor now - An old timer who’s not taking down
his sail
And
if I can be so bold - Let me last words be foretold - I’m telling you I just
don’t feel that old

Brian and Jean Luc’s new music video, “Beyond the Warrior’s Eyes” from the album of the same name is at
This A.I. generated video and shows Brian and Jean Luc on a musical mission with Roman gladiators. Brian knows, “We are warriors in the musical sense. We took on the mission of giving praise and thanks to veterans around the world through our musical message.”
The video is created by Dave Pellizza, who helmed the Josie-award-winning “Brothers in Arms” video with Brian and Joe Satriani. While “Brothers” had a modern warfare look, Brian instructed Dave to “go in a different direction focusing on the classical world of Spartan and Roman times. I attached Jean Luc’s and my performance videos for Dave to transform.”
Inserted at the end of the video is the “Hope for the Warriors” logo, the album’s charity. Hope For The Warriors provide medical care, mental health counseling, professional training and education, physical conditioning, transition services and more for active duty, veterans, and their families. Hope For The Warriors was founded by military families aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC in 2006 as they witnessed firsthand the effects war imparts on service members and their families. Hope For The Warriors has remained grounded in family values as the organization expands both the span of programs offered and the number of wounded, family members, and families of the fallen assisted.
