Anne Leighton: Michael Veitch "Wachtraum"
Announcing: “Lockdown” by Brijitte West
Former NY Loose FrontWoman Releases EP Created in 2020
Brijitte West’s "LOCKDOWN" EP is out and available for her fans. Created during Lockdown, the album features 3 new songs from Brijitte, who was the dynamic frontwoman for the 1990s band New York Loose.
Two songs, “Let’s Start a Fire” and “Talk
To Me” were produced in the studio with ----- at the helm. “Lie To Me” was recorded on her iPhone, as
were covers of The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes,” Ron Sexsmith’s Pretty
Suicide” and her own band’s “Sacred Heart”
NY Loose is most known for “Year Of The Rat” on Hollywood Records and their classic song, “Pretty Suicide,” which also appeared on “The Crow City Of Angels” soundtrack in 1996.
“’Can You Talk’ is about meeting somebody online during lockdown,” Brijitte
says. “It’s about a relationship that started with texts and how that can be
very constricting but liberating at the same time. You can say anything and
send it. You build a foundation. Then suddenly you realise just how lonely it
can be, words on a screen and the lack of human interaction. Lockdown seemed to slowed people down and
perhaps made then rethink their lives and the little things we take for
granted. ‘Can You Talk’ is a social commentary on that time and how it was for
me."
“’Let’s Build A Fire,’ a ballad written around the metaphor of building a fire
and coming to terms with the things in life that no longer serve you,” she
says. It’s about taking your time to think about things it’s time to burn and
how that knowledge and confidence can be the very thing that saves you.”
"Pretty Suicide' was inspired by a famous Life Magazine photo." Brijitte says on the making of that 1990s’ hit, "A girl committed suicide by jumping off the Empire State Building and landed on the roof of a car. She landed in the most angelic, graceful final pose. No blood or splatter -- just this beautiful state of relaxation. It seemed like the ultimate example of the collision between violence, tragedy, and beauty. It's ironic, she adds, with an acerbic smile, "because it was probably the best photo that this girl had ever taken."
“Lie To Me”
Michael Veitch "Wachtraum"
Michael Veitch is releasing a new album, “Wachtraum”
on February 4, 2022.
“Wachtraum,” means “days of dreaming” in German, and Germany is where Michael wrote many of the songs on his new album. “Wachtraum”’s theme focuses on his narrative writing and beautiful tenor voice’s reflections on unique qualities of each month.
The single and upcoming music video “Valentine’s Day,” is about love which helps coldness melt away. It’s a co-write with his longtime recording engineer Julie Last.
Other highlights of “Wachtraum” include “First Day” of a new year. “April Fools” is topical and personal and co-written with Judy Kass; it deals with delusional thinking. “Happy Fourth of July” recalls leaders and peace activists we’ve lost since the 1960s and features Dan playing brother Chris’s guitar. “Wachtraum” ends with the holy days of December with “One Wish” a duet with ethereal singer-songwriter Kirsti Gholsen.
This April, Michael appears on PBS’s upcoming broadcast, “We Remember-Songs from Survivors"-- songwriters collaborating with Holocaust survivors.
Michael’s been thankful on how the folk community has
helped him through the years. Judy Collins covered his song “Veteran’s Day,” on
her 2013 Live From the Temple of Dendur DVD, and 2011 CD “Bohemian.”
Michael’s song “Pledging Allegiance,” which reached #10 on the 2017
Folk/Americana charts, was honored by Music2Life Foundation. He’s a regular at
festivals, notably the 2001 Newport Folk Festival. Breaking out in the1980s,
with the help of Shawn Colvin—first sending him to Greenwich Village to expand
his songwriting with Jack Hardy, and later—in the 1990s—having him open for her
on an extensive tour; she also sang on his first album, “New York Journal.”
He has shared stages with a who’s who of singer-songwriters over many years of touring.

New Live Music "Game of Chicken" Live at ProgStock by Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius
“Game of Chicken” is the new single and video, it was recorded live during Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius’ performance at Progstock Festival, October 13, 2019 at Union County Performing Arts Center. Rahway, NJ.
The “game of
chicken” is a game in which two drivers drive towards each other on a collision
course: one must swerve, or both may die in the crash, but if one driver
swerves and the other does not, the one who swerved will be called a “chicken,” or a coward.
Joe Deninzon
says: “I thought about how dysfunctional our society is, how we continue
to kick the can down the road for future generations to clean up our mess, how
we scream over each other in our online media echo chambers and refuse to
listen to differing opinions. Our planet is on the verge of destruction and we
are too busy trying to destroy each other instead of coming together to try to
solve our problems.” This is the first single from our upcoming CD/DVD, “Behind
the Curtain: Live at Progstock” due out in May 2022 on Melodic Revolution
Records. Much more to come…

Jann Klose Pays Tribute to Archbishop Desmond Tutu in New Music Video "Never Fall"
JANN KLOSE is releasing a new music video, “Never Fall” as a tribute to the legacy of the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the TutuDesk Campaign. Watch on YouTube:
For immediate release: The music video’s documentary feel covers Jann’s multiple visits to Mpumalanga Province near Johannesburg, South Africa during the making of his recent solo album, “In Tandem.” Thousands of TutuDesks were handed out to students in need. Footage shows performances of the kids dancing, singing and playing and Jann singing and performing for them in return. Says Jann: “Never Fall imagines a world of connection, sharing and support. The kids sang along with me at the end of the song and performed for us in return. All captured here in this short music video.”
While Jann never met the Archbishop, he “felt his reverberations while working with his daughter Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe and her team.”
Globally recognized, and in partnership with the United Nations Special Envoy for Education, the Tutudesk provides the answer to the classroom desk shortage crisis experienced in schools in developing countries.
"I
was a barefoot township urchin. I went to school where there were no desks. We
sat on benches and when the teacher asked us to write, we knelt down on the
floor and used the benches we had been sitting on as desks… I wish Tutudesks
had been available in my day!” — Archbishop, Desmond Tutu
“Never
Fall” is the fourth single release off Jann Klose’s IN TANDEM album,
released by legendary Gallo Record Company. Previous singles, “Pour the
Champagne” featuring Karen Zoid have enjoyed continuous airplay in
Southern Africa, reaching some 26 million listeners and charting in the Top 20
on Jacaranda FM.

"Nightclubbing" is the first ever documentary about the renowned New
York City nightclub Max's Kansas City and the indelible impact it has had on
the world of music, fashion, art and culture.
As legendary Alice Cooper puts it: "A million ideas we're launched back
there", referring to the Max's Kansas City famous backroom where Andy
Warhol held court with artists, actors/actresses and musicians including the
highly influential Velvet Underground.
Max's was famous for hosting the creme de la creme of New York City luminaries
from the art world and film stars to musicians and cultural icons.
Artists, Rock Stars, Junkies, Movie Stars, Gutter Trash, Record Executives all
had a place to gather, intermingle, develop and cross pollinate.
Andy Warhol and his Superstars had a place to kick back, relax and revel in the
freedom to express themselves in a casual setting.
Max's was a place where degenerate excessivness and debauchery were so common,
that Iggy Pop bleeding on stage seemed lightweight compared to people shooting
up amphetamines and having sex in the bathroom.
Starting in 1970 Andy Warhol cohort Danny Fields books the clubs first live
music performances of The Velvet Underground, Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop,
starting Max's on its way to being a live venue of credibility and influence.
The Velvet Underground and their summer 1970 residency kickstart the New York
City live original Rock music scene.
As a showcase venue, future superstar artists such as Alice Cooper, Aerosmith,
Bob Marley, Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Madonna, U2, The Beastie Boys had a
place to develop and be discovered.
Transgender musical performances and performers had a safe proving ground to
develop.
Iggy meets Bowie. They develop a friendship that becomes a phenomenal working
artist relationship.
NYC Glam Rock had a place to develop. The New York Dolls influence both locals
and foreigners alike. The New York Dolls and the New York Punk Rock scene
inspired Malcolm McLaren to return to London from New York and put together the
Sex Pistols, thus sparking the UK Punk Rock uprising and spreading
the genre worldwide.
Art Rock had a place to start and the music duo Suicide had a place to develop
and influence the New York City scene.
Bowie deems DEVO the future of music.
The New Hardcore Punk/Post Punk Rock movement had a place to develop.
"And EVERYONE IS HIGH AS A KITE!"
All at the nightclub called Max's Kansas City.
"Nightclubbing: The Birth of Punk Rock in NYC" will be the 6th
acclaimed music documentary for Spanish filmmaker Danny Garcia and will
add to the list of respected music documentaries Danny Garcia has produced and
directed.
His other releases include "The Rise and Fall of The Clash" about the
later era Clash; "Looking for Johnny", about New York Dolls guitarist
Johnny Thunders; "Sad Vacation", a film chronicling the final months
in New York City of the Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious & his girlfriend
Nancy Spungen, "Stiv: No Compromise, No Regrets" about Stiv Bators,
legendary frontman of the iconic Ohio band the Dead Boys/The Lords of the New
Church and Danny's most recently released film "Rolling Stone Life and
Death of Brian Jones" about the founding member of The Rolling Stones.

“Rob wizzes around the keyboard like
nothing else on this PLANET” (Kerry Barns, One World Music Radio, New Age
Music Planet )
At the young age of 70 Robert has just released his
6th solo recording, ROBEONE on LABEL.
The keyboardist says, “Robeone is
short for Robeoneknobe-- a nickname I got years ago at work for being a huge ‘Star
Wars’ fan. It stuck and I decided to use it for my music name.’”
ROBEONE’s Six instrumental keyboard compositions
effortlessly flow into different styles of New Age, Jazz, Prog and Fusion
musics. Robert uses a range of keyboard
gear including Moog, Mellotron, Kurtzweil, Moog, Mellotron, Yamaha, Roland,
Korg, Kurtzweil, Ensonic Roli Seaboard, EMU, and Ashun Sound Machine. He says: “It’s my wish that this music will
take my listeners away from the current times into a musical journey that
serves as an opportunity to feel better.”
Robert has been recording since the early 1970s with progressive
rockers Mayson on Bearsville Records, pop rock acts The States on Chrysalis and
Boardwalk Records, the eclectic Tony Romero’s Vortex on Melodic Revolution

Dec. 20 Kathy Zimmer at the Rockwood Music Hall. NYC
Kathy Zimmer
Recommended
if you like:
Phoebe Bridgers, Kacey Musgraves
Equipped with beautiful
storytelling and an enchanting voice, NYC-based singer-songwriter Kathy
Zimmer will be playing a show at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3 on Monday,
December 20, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. Blurring the lines between folk and pop
music, this artist showcases her style of music that she describes as
"cosmopolitan folk."
Tickets are $12.86 with
service fees. The ticket buy link is at:
www.seetickets.us/event/Kathy-Zimmer/452790
The Rockwood—Stage 3 is
at 185 Orchard Street, in New York City.
This is a 21 and over
show.
Her first live performance
since pre-pandemic, Zimmer looks forward to debuting a set of almost entirely
new songs which were written over the past year and a half. Are any of us the
same now as we were in February 2020? Kathy Zimmer felt as though she was
evolving during this time, and had to create music that reflected that. Add to
that the fact that her band moved from the city as a result of the pandemic,
and she is challenged and excited to find a new performance format with which
to present her songs.
Kathy Zimmer has released
several recorded collections of her music, most recently a vinyl record in 2019
combining two EPs, White Noise and Sparkling Smile,
and a separate single, a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” (all of which are
available on all streaming platforms). A resident of New York City, Kathy
Zimmer is a native of rural Nebraska. Her original love of acoustic
guitars and tight vocal harmonies was the product of being raised in a large
musical family. In school, Zimmer studied classical music, her education
culminating in a master's degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Zimmer's roots and musical explorations have led her to create music she terms
"cosmopolitan folk"--music that is sophisticated, sincere, smart and
accessible with a variety of identifiable influences including country music,
1960s girl groups and classic pop singer-songwriters. However,
ultimately, Kathy Zimmer strives to make something new.
Rock n’
Reel Magazine has declared her the “latter day Joan Baez.” The
Roots Music Report proclaims, “At various turns enchanting,
haunting and soothing—and at times a bit of all of these—Ms. Zimmer’s
sophisticated song crafting never fails to charm.”

Game of Chicken (Live at Progstock) Official Video
Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerus nailed the drama in corporations and in political groups, where they're deliberately creating drama for people they shouldn't. The song "Game of Chicken" is a visual for cars racing to each other, and one swerving away at the last minute. If you don't swerve away at the last minute, you'll be called "a coward," even though no one died.
