The Kings last played New York City on September 11, 2011 to support survivors from Ground Zero. Originally known as WhistleKing, the group (made up of three members from Toronto, and one from British Columbia) formed in Vancouver, BC and Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

The Kings feature original members David Diamond (lead vocals, bass guitar, songwriter), Mister Zero (guitar and songwriter), and Peter Nunn (keyboards) who joined in 1994, and Todd Reynolds (drums) since 2009.

While recording their first album at Nimbus 9 Studio in Toronto, world famous producer Bob (Pink Floyd) Ezrin dropped by to visit and checked the band out and liked what he heard. He agreed to mix the tracks The Kings had recorded but soon discovered that the whole thing needed to be re-done. He approached Elektra Records in Los Angeles with The Kings’ tapes and the unknown band was signed to a world-wide deal. Ezrin and The Kings re-record the songs for the album “The Kings Are Here."

Radio picked up the infectious, 5:43 song “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ to Glide” and it caught on all over the USA and Canada with huge airplay in every major market, staying on the Billboard Hot 100 for six months. It was named one of the Top 100 U.S. Radio Programmers Picks of the Decade by Album Network Magazine and The Kings were named most promising group by Cashbox Magazine, and nominated for a Juno Award.

An amazing appearance on Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand” helped spread the word as well. The album “The Kings Are Here” went gold in Canada, and since it was re-released on cd as “The Kings Are Here and More,” combined sales have passed platinum status.
The second Ezrin-produced Elektra effort “Amazon Beach” did not fare as well and the band left the label and signed with Capitol Canada which released “RSVP” which contains the holiday classic “This Christmas” which gets lots of airplay every yuletide season.

The next studio project was called “Unstoppable” and the title track reached the Top 10 in Canada.

Next came the studio album “Because of You,” which once again showed the depth and versatility of the songwriting from The Kings. After that came other different projects, “Anthology One” which is a collection of rare early unreleased tracks, and what has become The Kings amazing “Live Trilogy,” “The Lost Tapes of a Seventies Bar Band,” “Party Live in ’85,” both audio only, and the DVD “No Covers-Live at O’Tooles Roadhouse,” all of which document the energy of the band in concert. And also the great documentary about the band’s biggest hit: “Anatomy of a One-Hit Wonder” where the guys tell their own story with trademark candour and humour.

Earlier 2019, The Kings released a two-song segue, “Circle of Friends/Man That I Am” which has all the energy and feel-good hooks the band is known for, and mixed in Nashville by their champion Bob Ezrin.

In 2020 The Kings will release "Live at Heatwave" a half hour concert movie shot in 16mm film at the famous 1980 "Heatwave Festival" which was held at Mosport Racetrack near Toronto which featured Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, The Pretenders, the B-52's….  The Kings’ footage is the only surviving film from the event.  The lead-off single is a bodacious cover of the Beach Boys classic "California Girls."

“Sticky Floor Nightclub,” an introduction to Joe Olnick’s Unique Avant-Jam Fusion. Instrumental, Rock

Listen Only On YouTube
New Album Everywhere on September 6

STICKY FLOOR NIGHTCLUB, the first song from Joe Olnick’s 7th album, IGUANA, is out on YouTube.  The instrumental’s funky rock vibe features Joe’s soaring guitar and dirty grooves with a tight rhythm section made up of bassist Jamie Aston and drummer Stew Bradley. The song's ending section gives way to a rowdy crowd in a club, giving a cinematic feel to the musical story unfolding.

Joe is self-releasing IGUANA on September 6. Based in the fusion genre, IGUANA has rock influences, from Talking Heads to Pink Floyd to REM to the Allman Brothers. Comic book artist Ron Good (of the horror series, God-Awful Comics) designed the album art about the story of a misunderstood Iguana named Don, who eventually—after lots of struggles ultimately gets his own hot rock to rest upon!  “There are parallels of Don’s life with my own career,” Joe says. “I’m an artist producing original instrumental work, so it’s a struggle at times to get my music out there.” “Meet” Don in the Youtube video!

Joe’s music has a rocking vibe of “avant-jam” and fusion like Medeski, Martin & Wood and New Mastersounds.  His previous album DOWNTOWN received unique feedback from a range of journalists.  MUSIC STREET JOURNAL called his music “classy.”  BURNED OUT BORDERS proclaimed his music great for, “Any fans of hard-hitting, rock-leaned instrumental music with a progressive, experimental backbone.”

In addition to guitar, Joe played sax and bass, plus worked as a recording engineer. In 2012, he released his first CD, and continued self-producing with albums from ambient to jazz/rock genres.

The Slambovian Circus of Dreams Tour the UK July

Please share downloadable flyer of the Slambovians UK Tour-July 4-15
New York City based band The Slambovian Circus of Dreams are touring the UK in the first 2 weeks of July 2019.
Starting off as the almost heavy metal Ancestors in the '90s the band have taken all that is good in folk, country and americana with a twist of Pink Floyd flavouring.
The Slambovians have melded their own unique sound that is at once familiar yet almost impossible to pigeon hole. The Slambovian Circus of Dreams have such an eclectic live stage presence that once seen, always hooked. Rubbing regular shoulders with some of the icons of American music the band have got some serious endorsees.
Garth Hudson of The Band is a committed Slambovian disciple and fan describing frontman Joziah Longo as “An awesome songwriter”. Writers have quoted lyrical similarities to both Bob Dylan and John Prine. A close listen to their many albums and well attended live shows would bear out that comparison.
Well known as a touring band throughout the North Eastern States, the popularity of The Slambovian Circus of Dreams have earned them a virtual residency at many of the larger folk festivals.
Gary Lucas, outstanding guitarist with Jeff Buckley and early member of Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band is quoted saying "It was an honor and a privilege to play with the great psychedelic band The Slambovian Circus of Dreams". Had the stars aligned, Gary Lucas would have toured with the band given half a chance. Maybe next tour?
Dave Pegg, renowned bassist and long time member of Fairport Convention, co-curator of Cropredy Festival met up with Slambovian UK management, Jonti Willis recently and said we could quote him widely, “Love the band and the music (of The Slambovian Circus of Dreams)” – Dave Pegg Fairport Convention. He’s also going to endorse a recommendation for a Cropredy Festival 2020 appearance too.
The New York Times says…. “They Take The Stage By Storm” And so they do!

Introducing: Shadow To Shadow: Dean Madonia's Frankenstein: Alive In Concert

New Rock Opera/Concept Album and Concert to debut this Halloween
Dean Madonia designed and painted the album cover
for Shadow To Shadow.

Dean Madonia's new album, Shadow To Shadow: Dean Madonia's Frankenstein will be performed live this year.  Stay tuned for announcements including names of musicians involved.

Dean Madonia's Frankenstein follows the tradition of most progressive bands including Genesis, King Crimson, Yes, Kansas, Kevin Gilbert, Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson, Styx, UK, Dio, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Pink Floyd who have created life-changing concept albums (i.e: The Who's Tommy, Pink Floyd's The Wall, Kevin Gilbert's The Shaming Of the True).

•CD Baby Founder Derek Sivers praises, "great songs that range from the outrageous to sublime... by an accomplished songwriter/performer/producer at the top of his game."

•La Caja De Pandora states, "progressive rock of the highest quality… a musician and a group at it's peak of inspiration."

•Arlequins says that Dean Madonia has "succeeded quite effectively to make functional music history."

Dean Madonia's  Frankenstein is a rock opera and tells the story of "The Monster" from the perspective of Dean and his band.  Based on Mary Shelley's famous novel, Frankenstein: Or The Modern Prometheus, Dean has straightened out the story, chronologically.  Dean Madonia's Frankenstein shows that "The Monster" is still alive after over 200 years, and telling his cautionary tale to a genetic researcher about to make the first human clone.

Copies of the album are available for downloads or as CDs.  Accredited journalists should contact publicist Anne Leighton at 718-881-8183 or via Anne@AnneLeighton.com.

In 2012 Tim Dugger recorded Dean's song (I Called Her) Tennessee (Curb Records) which reached #40 on the Music Row chart.  He's had film placements: Honor Is Ours in the 2013 Threshold Entertainment film Footlight!. His song, Just Like Love from his band Pretty Little Horses, was in the movie, The Stream. Dean has seven albums, including 1995's Third Wish CD distributed by Bon Lozaga's LoLo Records.

In addition to teaching workshops in songwriting, Dean also presents lectures on horror in music.

A BOX OF EVERYTHING is The Slambovian Circus of Dreams' first new release with the Sony / RED-distributed Red River Entertainment.  Due out April 1st, A BOX OF EVERYTHING is a compilation of "the greatest Slambovian hits you've never heard" newly remastered with three new studio cuts - the upbeat title track "A Box of EveryThing," Syd Barrett-inspired "A Very Unusual Head" and the anthemic "Alligators'"that justifies the Pink Floyd-esque descriptions of the band. The A BOX OF EVERYTHING CD Release Show at Webster Hall April 12th is a special one-time event, with special guests (who played on the album) performing with the band and a multimedia show created for the upcoming tour.

From Sleepy Hollow, New York, The Slambovian Circus of Dreams (AKA The Grand Slambovians) pioneered the alt-folk/americana genre totally under the radar for over a decade. Defying traditional rules of success (like changing their name at whim), they built their career from the ground up with a loyal fan base fueling and supporting them since open mic days in New York to national tours of the US, Canada and the UK.

"We've done very well as an independent band, but one of our goals has been to find someone who plays business like Sharkey plays guitar. We think that Bob Frank of Red River is that guy. We're inspired to have Bob (former president of E1 Music Worldwide/Koch Records) on board at this point in our career," says lead singer/songwriter Joziah Longo. "He's a force of nature, constantly building creative alliances with people that any band would love to have on their team."

Though approached by labels for years, in 2013 the band decided to dance with Red River having been among the first artists tapped to sign with their newly formed company.

Left to Right: Sharkey, Joziah, Tink and Eric
THE NEW YORK TIMES says of the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, "Their songs are imbued with mystical stirrings and idealism... they take the stage by storm!" They've been compared to an array of artists including the Waterboys, Jethro Tull, The Decemberists, a quirkier Tom Petty or Buffalo Tom with an exotic instrumental arsenal. The group's "dusty Americana ballads" may evoke Dylan, Cracker, or the Wallflowers, but then along comes one of those Pink Floyd-esque cinematic anthems with otherworldly slide mandolin, accordion and cello and suddenly you're in a whole different dimension!  Although there are lots of comparisons, UK'S MAVERICK MAGAZINE calls them "Mightily impressive and hugely original."

The Slambovian Circus of Dreams are: Joziah Longo songwriter/vocals/guitar/ harmonica, Sharkey McEwen - guitar/mandolin, multi-instrumentalist Tink Lloyd - accordion, cello, uke, theremin, melodica and Eric Puente, percussion.

A BOX OF EVERYTHING - Coming April 1st, 2014
