Jann Klose's New Album MOSAIC Spring 2013

Singer/Guitarist/Songwriter in GREETINGS FROM TIM BUCKLEY Releases New Album, June 2013

Jann Klose’s new album MOSAIC, due June,  2013 can easily be called a sonic, lyrical and emotional mosaic from an artist, who is known as one with multi-cultural roots and an equally widely-faceted career and a voice that Public Radio’s Barb Heller says, “could sing the phonebook.”

GREETINGS FROM TIM BUCKLEY director Dan Algrant realized that when he hired Jann as a featured vocalist and guitarist in the movie that stars Penn Badgley and Imogen Poots. The film will be released April 16th, 2013 by Tribeca Film / Focus World.  Recently ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT Online interviewed Jann about the film.

Jann's album MOSAIC follows the indie success of REVERIE (2008) and SACRIFICE EP (2010) and the music video for DOING TIME. Produced by Grammy winner James Frazee (Esperanza Spalding, Blondie, My Morning Jacket) and David Bendeth (Paramore, Bruce Hornsby, Elvis Presley) MOSAIC was recorded between Fall 2011 and Winter of 2012/13.  Double GRAMMY-winner Warren Russell-Smith, mastered MOSAIC.

MOSAIC’s songs tackle personal and topical subjects and bring together a variety of instruments, musical and lyrical styles from street influences of reggae and punk to calypso, to classic rock, and the folk and Afro-beat that has addicted fans of all ages to Jann’s music. Songs include Jann’s originals, “Still,” “Make It Better,” “Four Leaf Clover,” “On and On,” “Falling Tears,” and a playful duet “Beautiful One” with Rounder Records’  Carrie Newcomer. The album ends with a stunning a cappella cover of Tim Buckley’s “Song To The Siren.”  Jann’s band The Edukators, Chris Marolf on bass and banjo, drummers Rob Mitzner and Patrick Carmichael, keyboardist/accordionist Lars Potteiger, and violinist Leah Potteiger worked on the album and contributed to the arrangements.  Other featured guests include guitarists Florian Opahle (Ian Anderson, Greg Lake) David Bendeth, flautist Tia Roper and oboist Megan Marolf  (Phillip Glass, Roger Waters).

Jann’s been as comfortable performing with pop and folk singer-songwriters from THE VOICE’s Rebecca Loebe and Brett Dennen to Suzanne Vega and Pete Seeger, as he has with jam bands including his friends in Rusted Root and songwriting partner Gary Lucas.  He’s performed with acts rooted in jazz and blues such as Vonda Shepard, Michael Kaeshammer and the late Les Paul, and classical rockers Renaissance (both with Annie Haslam and the group’s co-founder Jim McCarty, also of The Yardbirds). Critics have placed him in the chamber pop as well as the singer-songwriter genres, and Jann welcomes their varied reflections, “There are no limits when it comes to making music.  I’m defined by who I am and what I do, not how some marketing executive pigeonholes me.  It’s melodic, lyrical, and rhythmic music.  Music is about what the listener hears.”

Born in Germany, raised in Kenya, South Africa, and Hamburg, Jann came to the States as an exchange student in Cleveland, and performed in a wide range of musical projects including the Cleveland Opera Chorus, touring productions of Broadway shows (JEKYLL & HYDE, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR) as well as portraying The Pinball Wizard in THE WHO’S TOMMY before he started his band.

Jann’s music is heard on the GRAMMY-nominated HEALTHY FOOD FOR THOUGHT, on MTV CRIBS, the movie “Dead Broke” (Warner Bros.) featuring Paul Sorvino. He maintains a steady touring schedule of about 75-100 shows a year in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Partnering with the largest non-profits in the world of epilepsy, Candlelight Concerts for Epilepsy Awareness is proud to announce the first nation-wide epilepsy awareness endeavor – 50 Concerts in 50 States. It’s a network of coordinated live events over one weekend in March 2013.
Candlelight Concerts, along with Epilepsy Foundation (www.EFA.org ), CURE: Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (www.CureEpilepsy.org ), Team Epilepsy ((www.TeamEpilepsy.com ) and Doose Syndrome Epilepsy Alliance (www.DooseSyndrome.org ), are standing united to raise epilepsy awareness on this single weekend in March.
At each event, volunteers will be present to distribute information regarding epilepsy (a 16 page book prepared specifically for these events), provide access to services, answer questions and raise donations – all of which will go directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Events will vary in size from intimate house concerts with 20-40 attendees to 18,000+ seat arena shows with nationally known touring artists. Artists from all genres – classic rock, folk, jazz, singer/songwriters, orchestras, electronic, comedians, plays and more. All with the same objective, to distribute information and raise epilepsy awareness. All genres, all volunteers involved with the singular purpose to change the way the world sees and understands epilepsy.
This national network of events grows out of Candlelight Concerts for Epilepsy Awareness – a webcast house concert series based in Pennington NJ. Started and run by Eric Miller, whose wife Carolina, passed away in August 2011 at the age of 25 as a result of epilepsy. Since that time, Eric has worked tirelessly to raise epilepsy awareness in her honor and in honor of all those living with or lost to epilepsy. The series has featured such amazing artists as Corey Glover of Living Colour, Eric Bazilian, Chris Barron, The Young Dubliners, Dan Reed, Mary Fahl, and many others. This network of events takes that model and raises it to a national level on a single weekend.
MORE STATES AND DATES WILL BE ADDED.
